‘Solar City’ Anantapur attracts 5 Solar Farms (India)
Andhra Pradesh government has announced that an exclusive cluster for setting up solar farms, named ‘Solar City’, will be coming up at Kadiri in Anantapur district to give a fillip to solar power sector in the state.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah after unveiling the 'Solar City' logo during the inauguration of the Solarcon India 2009 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre on Monday, handed over the allotment letters to four firms, namely Sunborne Inc, USA; Lanco Solar, India; AES Solar, USA; Titan Energy Systems, India to set up solar power generation units totalling 2,000 MW in Solar City.
The fifth company, Astonfield Renewable Resources Ltd., was handed over the allotment letter by BP Acharya IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. (APIIC) on 11 November '09 during the last day of the Solarcon India 2009 conference to develop a 250 MW solar power generation unit in Solar City.
