Seminar & Networking Event
Building a Resilient, Skilled & Diverse Solar Workforce
5 April 2022 | Oakland
This seminar and networking day on 5 April 2022 is centered around the topic of workforce development, guided by DEI (diversity, equity & inclusion) principles. Solarplaza is partnering with Nextracker and Silicon Ranch to facilitate this day of thought-provoking discussions and networking.
The (optional) first part of the day will be a seminar hosted at Nextracker’s HQ in Fremont (including a tour of the facilities) and will involve the input and expertise from Solar Energy International, Greenwork and Grid Alternatives. The seminar will have a local focus on strengthening the Californian solar (r)evolution by providing job opportunities to the diverse communities of Alameda County.
For the second part of the day, we’ll regroup in Oakland for the ‘Solar Block Party’ networking gathering at the main office of Powerhouse in central Oakland. Rather than a formal sit-down occasion, this pre-conference networking event will be a laidback affair, with local craft beers, wines, drinks, food truck bites, and some surprises!
The entire day will also serve the purpose of raising funds to support a Grid Alternatives ‘Local Workforce Development Days’ in the Bay Area, which makes job training opportunities accessible and inclusive of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in solar, including women, people of color and those impacted by the criminal justice system.
(Please note that for participation in the first part of the day, at Nextracker's HQ, double vaccination is required)
