Tomás García is the lead Senior Director of the Energy & Infrastructure Advisory practice in Spain & Portugal at JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle) since April 2020. In this role, he leads the team providing transactional and financial advisory services for renewable energy assets in Iberia. Prior to this, Tomás was the Managing Director of the Solar & Wind Projects business in Spain & Portugal at BayWa r.e. (2019). Prior to this role, he was the Head of Business Development EMEA, Energy Group at Canadian Solar (2017-2018). Before that he served at SunEdison as General Manager, Rural Electrification EMEA (2014-2015) and as Head of Strategy & Market Development EMEA & LATAM (2011-2014). Before that Tomás was Market Strategy Manager at First Solar (2008-2011) and a Strategy Consultant at the Monitor Group (2004-2008). Additionally, he has also worked as a Venture Capitalist, Research Scientist (doing science on solar PV materials), University Teacher and FX Trader. Tomás was a PhD student at Florida International University, earned his MSci at King’s College London and his Masters degree in Physics at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish and English and functional in Italian.

Fátima María García Señán is the Deputy Director General for Storage and Flexibility at the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. She graduated in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 2016 and has a Masters in Renewable Energy from Cranfield University in the UK. In 2019 she completed the selection process to become a State Industrial Engineer. Her expertise lies in renewable energy regulation, the administrative procedure and European regulatory affairs.

Rosemary is a lead consultant at Clean Horizon. Her expertise lies in the dimensioning of energy storage projects using optimization models that dispatch assets on available energy and ancillary services markets. She assesses the profitability of energy storage projects and is responsible for the Iberian region.

Electrical Engineer from INSA Lyon with a Specialized Master’s Degree in New Energy Management of AMPT Lille, with over 10 years of experience in the Renewable Energy sector. At DNV, Valentin works as Principal Consultant in the Energy Market Analytics team, covering Southern Europe and Latin America Energy Markets. Additionally, he has a Global Practice Lead role for Power Price Forecast (PPF), where he coordinates the PPF activities across regions, driving innovation and promoting best practices. Prior to DNV, Valentin was Head of Quantitative Research at Antuko, where he led the areas of Market Intelligence, Market Modelling, Risk Management and Asset Management. Valentin is a specialist in Smart Grid and Energy Management with knowledge of modelling electrical transmission grid, renewable energy and storage systems. He also worked as a Research Engineer at the Lille L2EP Laboratory to develop methods and solutions for optimization of renewable energy production, storage, and consumption.

Dr. Hilton joined IHS Markit (now S&P Global) in 2020 and has eight years of experience in the clean energy sector. He focuses on clean energy technologies in Europe, Middle East and Africa and has a particular interest in how energy storage integrates with other industries. He has recently published work on recycling, energy storage for EV charging, vehicle-to-grid technologies, second life batteries and the use of batteries in hydrogen production. He leads the global forecast for energy storage. He has published articles in multiple well-respected journals, responded to government calls for evidence on energy storage and electric vehicles (EVs), and has been quoted in a range of media outlets. Dr. Hilton holds a first-class Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD in energy engineering with a focus on energy storage integration with renewable energy and EV infrastructure, both from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

Michael obtained his Engineer’s degree at Mines ParisTech (France) and his Ph.D. at Stanford (USA). As an academic in Silicon Valley, he witnessed the boom of cleantech venture capital and entrepreneurship and went on to become a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Paris. In 2009, he founded Clean Horizon, a consultancy entirely dedicated to energy storage. Since its creation, Clean Horizon has been acting as a one-stop shop energy storage consultancy, acting mostly across Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Latin America. Michael speaks French, English and (some) Spanish.

Alberto brings a decade of international expertise in the energy sector, covering different angles of the value chain including clean technology projects development, open innovation, corporate venture investments, and energy policy advocacy. Prior to joining Breakthrough Energy, he advised Iberdrola´s CEO as a Senior Business Specialist. From the Chairman Office, he controlled worldwide business operations, supported Executive Committees and Boards of Directors, and developed special analysis relevant for strategic corporate decisions. He was also part of the Corporate Venture Capital arm, where he managed investments in disruptive clean technology start-ups focused on the decarbonization of the power, heat, and transport sectors. He also spent several years of work in Qatar, where he built Iberdrola´s Innovation Hub for Open Innovation and managed technical consultancy projects for Utilities in the Middle East, including power grids digitalization, renewables integration, and energy efficiency programs. He also worked at the International Energy Agency, where he co-authored several flagship publications including the World Energy Outlook (WEO) and World Energy Investment (WEI), being responsible for power sector market investments analysis for IEA scenarios. He also developed economic models for networks, renewables, and energy storage analysis. Outside of work, Alberto loves traveling and meeting people. He cares for sea life where he enjoys doing two of his hobbies, surfing, and scuba-diving. He holds three MSc in Industrial Engineering, Renewable Energy and Energy Business, and a PMP Certificate from the Project Management Institute.

Oliver Schmidt is a clean energy expert with a particular focus on energy storage. He published the book Monetizing Energy Storage and launched the online analysis platform http://www.energystorage.ninja/ in 2023. He has previous experience as a project manager at the strategy and financial transaction advisory firm Apricum, where he supported top management with strategic advice in the energy storage, solar PV, and hydrogen industries. Oliver also worked as an energy analyst at the IEA and as a management consultant at E.ON. He has a PhD on the future cost and value of energy storage from Imperial College London.

Joshua is a renewable energy professional with over 12 years of commercial and technical experience in utility-scale battery storage and solar technology. Joshua is the Head of Storage at Econergy, a renewable energy IPP that operates across 6 different regions with over 450MW of solar, wind and battery storage projects under construction and 155MW of operation solar PV. He joined in 2021 to head the technical, commercial, and strategic aspects of the company’s stand-alone and co-located storage projects in the UK and also developing the overseas storage strategy. Econergy is currently building over 100MWh of battery storage projects in the UK and has a further 1GW of storage projects nearing ready to build. Before joining Econergy, he worked for a leading German inverter manufacturer, SMA Solar Technology, where he served as the technical expert for the UK and Ireland. He has been involved in the design and delivery of over 800MW of utility-scale solar and storage projects.

David Perez Lopez brings extensive expertise in renewables technologies, regulation and finance. With a background as the former global head of renewables and sustainable energies at Capgemini Engineering (formarly Altran), David is a seasoned expert in the renewable energy domain. His competencies encompass a broad range of renewables technologies and he possesses a deep understanding of regulatory, market and financial aspects in the renewable energy space. Functionally, David excels in business management, strategy development, technical due diligence, digital strategy and project management. His past projects include advising the Kingdom of Spain in renewables investment arbitration, contributing to Saudi Aramco's renewables investment strategy and leading digital strategy initiatives for EDP-R. His academic foundation includes a master’s in industrial engineering from Carlos III University of Madrid and a PDG graduate from IESE Business School. David's profound insights and hands-on experience make him a valuable asset to our project team, ensuring a comprehensive and expert approach to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the renewable energy landscape including solar PV, wind onshore, batteries, and hydrogen.

Civil Engineer from Alfonso X “el Sabio” University of Madrid, Master in Renewable Energy and Energy Market from Escuela de Organización Industrial and Executive MBA from IESE Business School. He has developed his professional career in the area of infrastructure and energy, participating in civil works construction projects, renewable energy business development, electricity transport infrastructure concessions and renewable energy asset management, work carried out mainly in the Elecnor Group in the markets of Spain and Chile. Due to his career, he has experience in the complete development of projects, from their origin with the location of locations and administrative and environmental processing to their commercial operation and sale, through construction, financing, commissioning and operation. He is currently Director of ASEALEN, Spanish Association of Energy Storage, having previously held the position of Secretary General of PROTERMOSOLAR, Spanish Association for the Promotion of the Solar Thermal Industry.

Kim specialises in transaction support as independent market and economic advisor for major power project developers, financiers and fuel suppliers. In total, he has supported the successful completion of 72GW of conventional and renewable power projects and 726MIGD of water desalination projects with a transaction value of USD44 billion over the past 23 years, including 15GW in Spain since 2018. Experience across most of Europe, parts of Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Partner at K4K (international focus) and EKON (focused on Spain and Portugal). Contributor to academic papers, industry periodicals, conferences and workshops.

Mikel Pino is a chemical engineer, master in renewable energies and PhD into battery energy storage with more than 12 years fully devoted to energy storage and new energy businesses. He has participated in the whole value chain of BESS from new battery technologies R&D, up to business modelling, procurement and contracting. Additionally, he overseed market price forecast modelling for renewable assets market risk assessment, revenue stacking definition both for BESS and ancillary services qualified RE assets, renewable project hybridization (PV + wind + BESS) and new business origination (green hydrogen, electro-intensive business, etc). He worked for reference energy companies as Qualitas Equity and Statkraft, and recently joined Exus Renewables as Head of Energy Storage for Europe.

Over 17 years of experience leading the development of new energy business on a global scale, as Technical and Business Director, in areas such as energy storage, green hydrogen, and digital solutions. Beatriz’ expertise includes the full lifecycle of origination, development, construction, and operation. Additionally, Beatriz is a start-up mentor, energy advisor, and impact investment professional.

I have been working in the renewable energy sector since 2007: I have been a partner of LPR and participated in the advice, promotion, design, construction and commercialization of portfolios of renewable projects, with direct participation in more than 270 MW, and I have collaborated with companies from first national and international levels in different countries, especially Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Latam. At the same time, I have developed the promotion of PMGD projects for private investment groups in Chile, and since 2016 I have been actively working in the development of the Grupo Gransolar Business in Latam, with a special focus on Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Argentina. From 2020, as representative of Grupo Gransolar, I perform the duties of president of AEPIBAL, the Spanish storage benchmark association in Spain.

More than 18 years of experience in project financing, leading and structuring a wide portfolio of projects in almost all the fields related to the standard of living improvement. From 2013 leading the business of renewable energy in Banco Sabadell, who currently is the uncontested market leader of the sector in Spain.

Miguel is a senior industrial engineer with extensive experience in the integration of renewable energies in electrical power systems. He graduated from the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Electrical Engineer from the Technische Universität Darmstadt in Germany, and has worked at Red Eléctrica since April 2004, having performed tasks related to the operation of the Spanish peninsular electrical system.

Since October 2019, Fernando is Head of Origination, Structured and Long Term Products in Axpo Iberia. He leads the PPA and structured business in Iberia and has placed Axpo Iberia as a leading company in the field. As an expert in markets, volatility and financial products with over 10 years of experience within Axpo, Fernando has worked with energy producers and consumers, developing tailor-made solutions to optimize their energy budgets. He has specialized in renewable PPA transactions for producers and corporates in the Iberian market, adapting to the new trends and technologies and structuring bankable solutions to push for the energy transition.

Dolores Sánchez Muñoz is Head of Business Development at Alpiq Energía España. Lola holds an Industrial Engineering degree from ICAI (Spain) and an MBA from IMD (International Institute for Management Development, Switzerland), and has more than 15 years of experience in Utilities, specifically in electricity markets, energy management and business development. Following his time in the energy trading and management practice at Iberdrola, he held strategic consulting and business development roles with a focus on Utilities in the UK and Ireland. Since 2019 she has been working for Alpiq developing business focused on flexibility, taking on the role of business development director at Alpiq Energía España from early 2024.

Verena has a diverse and extensive professional background, combining her experience in Project Finance and Corporate Finance over the years. She started her career as a Project Finance banker in the energy and infrastructure sectors, accumulating 8 years of valuable expertise in this field. From 2006 to 2018, she served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Pilar Group BV, a company specializing in the production of silicon wafers for photovoltaic applications. Pilar Group BV had operations in Spain and Eastern Europe and served clients across Europe, Asia, and the USA. Prior to her role as CFO, from 2002 to 2006, Verena held the position of Senior Vice President at HypoVereinsbank (HVB) in Madrid. During her tenure at HVB, she was responsible for executing project financings for international developers in the Iberian Peninsula and Spanish corporates in Eastern Europe, successfully closing financings totaling €3 billion. Between 1998 and 2002, she worked as the Vice President of Project Finance at HVB in both Munich and London, further enhancing her expertise in the finance sector. Verena has also shared her knowledge and insights as a Visiting Professor at the School of Applied Finance in Madrid, where she taught International Financing. In terms of her educational background, she holds a Master's degree in Law from the European University of Madrid and is a licensed lawyer, being a member of the Madrid bar association with registration number 126811. Additionally, she holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Munich (TUM). Since 2018, Verena has been a partner at Agere Infrastructure Partners SL, where she continues to contribute her vast experience and expertise to the finance and infrastructure sectors.

Francisco Solchaga, Partner of the Energy department, has more than 20 years of experience and, more specifically, advising in the renewable energy sector, in which he has extensive experience. He regularly advises on projects related to the promotion, construction, financing and operation of energy projects, both in their contractual and regulatory aspects, having advised all kind of players involved in a project (project promoters, contractors, financing banks, project purchasers and sellers, as well as the managers of the photovoltaic plants once they are in operation), and has extensive regulatory knowledge of the sector. He has also wide experience in all legal related secretarial duties to investment and renewable energy companies. J.D. from the University of Zaragoza (graduated with honours), Francisco joined Araoz & Rueda as an associate in 2000, after two years as an associate at Uría Menéndez, where he acquired experience in mergers and acquisitions and securities market.

Beatriz is a seasoned professional in the energy storage sector, with three years of experience focusing on the Iberian and Latin American markets. She has a strong background in transmission systems expansion and energy market analysis, having spent six years honing her technical expertise in assessments, such as safety, and sizing storage systems. Currently, Beatriz is part of the Commercial Software Team at Aurora Energy Research, where she continues to apply her deep knowledge of the industry. Beatriz holds a degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Electrotechnical from the University Mackenzie in Brazil, and a Master's degree in Renewable Energy from the University Polytechnique of Catalunya, Spain.

Since 2005, Inés has developed her career in the PV sector, in different companies of the value chain operating in the manufacturing, development, EPC, and O&M of grid-tied, distributed generation, and off-grid projects. She has held positions in business development, project development, and project management in Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. She is the Founder of sociallicense.energy, a team of experts in Sustainability and Social Innovation for renewable energy and storage projects, committed to facilitating the social acceptance through an in-depth analysis of the local context and the implementation of customized strategies to ensure their success. The methodology used allows local communities to identify with projects throughout their life cycle, creating the conditions for lasting consensus and generating value for companies and communities.

MBA and MS in Electronic Engineer, accumulating 18 years of experience in the renewables sector with a specific focus on Energy Storage for more than a decade, having held key positions in Business Development and Sales in large Multinational Companies like EKS, Ingeteam and Siemens Gamesa. Currently serves as the Head of Storage at Greenvolt Power, one of world’s leading companies driving the deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems with secured contracts for Battery Systems totalling 6GWh over the next three years, reaffirming its status as a pioneer in large scale sustainable energy solutions

Eloy Márquez Sanz is a Country Head with over 13 years of experience in international renewable energy, having managed project transaction volumes exceeding USD 250 million across Spain, Portugal, Japan, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, and Chile. In his role as COO, he successfully closed structured sale and purchase processes while leading business development teams in Italy and Spain, particularly focusing on the BESS sector. As International Business Development Director, Eloy managed complex energy transactions at Progressum. His work also involved expanding operations into new regions through his role in international business development at X-Elio and Acuity Brands. Eloy showcases expertise across law, project development, technology, and structured finance.

Lluís is currently the Head of Energy Storage Consulting Team at One Solar. He graduated in industrial engineering and specialised in applied computational methods. The last 9 years of his professional career he has focussed in battery energy storage technologies. He worked 6 years at the Fraunhofer Institute (Germany), where he was devoted to applied research in battery engineering, battery performance and degradation modelling, and energy management system (EMS) solutions. Since 2021, he works at One Solar (Spain), promoting and developing stationary storage projects for grid applications and for large consumers.

Miguel Galatas is the COO and one of the founders of nTeaser, the digital marketplace for renewable energy projects. Miguel holds a degree in business administration, specialized in entrepreneurship and innovation. He started his career working for both energy and tech companies alike before launching nTeaser. Today, he is now focused on equity transactions and more specifically, in bringing transparency and efficiency to this sector thanks to digitalization. nTeaser has become a benchmark in the acquisition of renewable projects, with +100 projects and +5GW for sale, including solar PV, windpower, BESS, and soon, also green hydrogen and biogas projects.

Tomás Fraga Martínez is Head of Area in the Secretary of State for Energy at the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. Graduated in Industrial Engineering from the University of A Coruña and, after almost two decades in the energy sector, he completed the selection process to become a State Industrial Engineer in 2022 He has held different responsibilities in the field of energy storage, both nationally and internationally, as well as regulation and administrative procedure.

Timo Gollub is a Solution Engineer at ACCURE Battery Intelligence, with experience in consulting and research across various industries. Graduating with a Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering & Business Administration from RWTH Aachen University, Timo has demonstrated expertise in project management, technical assistance, and client relations. With a proven track record of academic excellence and professional growth, Timo continues to excel in their role, bridging the gap between customers and product development.

Jan is an experienced manager in development of large scale electrification projects. Having come through different positions at Dutch renewable energy front runner Eneco he has a broad vision of power markets, industrial decarbonization challenges and combining the two. After the last two years at Eneco as head of the project development team for industrial decarbonization he joined Rondo Energy. Rondo Energy is a US based scale up deploying industrial scale heat batteries to decarbonize all steam demand in industry using low-value renewable electricity. At Rondo he is putting his experience together by implementing large scale thermal storage not just in Europe, but globally. He is an expert in moving industrial scale projects from nice ideas to profitable projects making use of the latest market dynamics.

Originally from Brazil, Lorena Nieuwenhoven completed a double major degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2019. She then deep-dived into the area of renewables and sustainability, helping expand the penetration of solar energy in the Iberian markets through her work as a Project Manager for Solarplaza. Apart from her work in the Spanish and Portuguese markets, Lorena has also spearheaded topical conferences related to Green Hydrogen and Hybrid Renewables.
