Dr. Hilton joined IHS Markit (now S&P Global) in 2020 and has eight years of experience in the clean energy sector. He focuses on clean energy technologies in Europe, Middle East and Africa and has a particular interest in how energy storage integrates with other industries. He has recently published work on recycling, energy storage for EV charging, vehicle-to-grid technologies, second life batteries and the use of batteries in hydrogen production. He leads the global forecast for energy storage. He has published articles in multiple well-respected journals, responded to government calls for evidence on energy storage and electric vehicles (EVs), and has been quoted in a range of media outlets. Dr. Hilton holds a first-class Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD in energy engineering with a focus on energy storage integration with renewable energy and EV infrastructure, both from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

Jan Willem has over 20 years of experience in the energy market and worked for some of the larger utilities. Early 2020, Jan Willem sold his previous companies Greenspread and Greencrowd to private equity concern NPM Capital. Since his departure in October 2020, Jan Willem works as an independent consultant at Stratergy. Stratergy advises funds, banks, utilities, and large consumers and producers of energy and specializes in maximizing asset value and minimizing financial risk.

Jesse heads Aurora’s Research and Advisory team for the Dutch and Belgian markets. His expertise is the economics of renewables, flexible technologies, and energy policy, with a proven track record as a market advisor on several strategic studies and transactions for developers, investors, and policy makers. Prior to joining Aurora, Jesse worked for Eneco in Rotterdam.

Sander has a MSc in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology and has a longstanding experience in product development and product management. He now passionately works to facilitate the energy transition at the DSO by introducing customer-oriented solutions to make more efficient use of the existing energy infrastructure. One the current themes he is working on, is how to allow Battery Energy Storage Systems access to the electricity grid through a regional connection to support the energy transition, without causing local congestion.

As a flexibility and storage consultant, I apply expertise to model and analyze techno-economic questions on a system level. Dedicated to collaboration, I strive to connect minds and work together in shaping a sustainable energy system of the future.

Rianne ’t Hoen works as senior consultant in the Energy Storage team of DNV, she supports customers in making technical decisions about battery energy storage system projects: market focus (geographically and applications), technical design and risk assessments. Her focus is on the knowledge field of renewable energy, energy storage, battery safety, storage business case calculations and workshop & trainings. Rianne contributes through project realization, market studies, technology assessments, independent project evaluations and technical research in the role of technical consultant and project manager. Rianne is chairman of the Dutch normalisation committee NEC 21/35 cells and batteries.

Ibtihal Abdelmotteleb is a Senior Energy Transition Specialist within the RaboResearch Energy Transition team and predominantly covers grids. She is based in The Netherlands. Prior to Rabobank, Ibtihal worked as a Research Analyst at Wood Mackenzie, leading the solar and wind market coverage of the Middle East and Africa region. Before that, she had a long academic career at leading universities. She also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Energy & Resources research group of the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. She has a MSc in Electrical Power and Control Engineering and a PhD in Sustainable Energy Technologies and Strategies through a joint program of Comillas Pontifical University (Spain), TU Delft (The Netherlands), and KTH (Sweden).

Oliver Schmidt is a clean energy expert with a particular focus on energy storage. He published the book Monetizing Energy Storage and launched the online analysis platform http://www.energystorage.ninja/ in 2023. He has previous experience as a project manager at the strategy and financial transaction advisory firm Apricum, where he supported top management with strategic advice in the energy storage, solar PV, and hydrogen industries. Oliver also worked as an energy analyst at the IEA and as a management consultant at E.ON. He has a PhD on the future cost and value of energy storage from Imperial College London.

Stefan Kop has contributed to the energy transition in various positions. Flexibility solutions to optimize the energy system are the common thread in his career. He has now been responsible for Spectral's consultancy team for more than three years and has been involved as a senior energy advisor in various innovative smart energy projects such as the virtual grid at Schiphol Trade Park.

Hubert Penn is the founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Dexter Energy, where he helps build and commercialize the industry’s leading AI-based forecasting and trade optimization services. Prior to Dexter Energy, he worked for an investment company where he successfully managed and monitored investments and portfolio companies. Hubert holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from TU Delft and is a Certified Management Accountant.

Marnix is the contact person for all hybrid and stand-alone battery projects in the ABO Wind portfolio in The Netherlands. His focus lies on regulations, grid connections, contracts, and bankability in The Netherlands, utilizing the international experience within ABO Wind. He has a background in Sustainable Energy Technology from TU Delft and worked in start-up companies on smart EV charging and demand responds.

André has been active in the energy sector since 2005, when he joined Delta Energy as a quantitative analyst on the trade floor. He also headed the analysis department and was instrumental in setting up optimization strategies for PZEM’s assets. After a period of a year at DNWG, the network operations company of Delta, where he optimized resource planning, he returned to the trade floor to manage the Asset Optimization team and later became manager of Trading and Asset Optimization. André has represented PZEM in various roles for PZEM's assets, including a nuclear power plant, CCGT, CHP, biomass power plant and an offshore wind farm. In his different roles, André built up a wealth of knowledge on trading, portfolio management, and energy operations, as well as Remit, market rules and best practices.

Mike has gained management experience in the M&A of technical and IT companies such as EY. He has also fulfilled a crucial management role in several projects for TenneT, such as congestion management, reactive power (too high voltages), batteries, sales (ETPA), mergers (CertiQ and Vertogas) and is a shareholder representative for several subsidiaries. Due to increasing grid congestion throughout the Netherlands, grid operators are (temporarily) unable to realize new connections to the grid in more and more places. The grid operators are also seeing an increase in voltage problems (too high or low voltages), causing inverters at people's homes, but also other grid elements at the grid operators to fail. The goal of GOPACS is to become the platform to prevent grid congestion and other types of transport problems. This creates space on the grid to realize new connections, the grid operators keep the grid stable and they can continue to connect new sustainable generators and consumers. GOPACS is and will become the platform for a traffic jam-free energy system!

Marinus is a competition and energy lawyer and works as a counsel at the Competition and Regulated Markets department of Allen & Overy Amsterdam. He is specialised in EC and Dutch competition law and the regulatory aspects of the energy market. Marinus is listed as a leading practioner in the energy sector according to Chambers and partners and Who's Who Legal. Marinus was involved in important procedures with respect to liberalisation of the energy markets, such as: The procedure against the Dutch Energy Regulator, in which the European Court of Justice decided that the priority access to the interconnectors of long term import contracts for electricity is discriminatory; and the procedure against the Dutch State, in which the Court of Appeal in The Hague decided that the forced ownership unbundling in the Dutch Electricity Act and the Dutch Gas Act is in breach of the European Treaty on the functioning of the European Union. Marinus was also involved in several procedures with respect to tariff regulation for Dutch grid operators and he advised on third party access rules for gas storages.

Bouke van der Weerdt is the Solutions Manager for Huawei’s Benelux Solar division, seated in the Amsterdam office. With over 14 years of experience in power conversion technology for both terrestrial and space applications, photovoltaic applications became the common thread in his professional career.Huawei, in the industry mainly known for smartphones, enterprise IT and telecom products, is now also the #1 global supplier for string inverters with an installed portfolio exceeding 90GW in 2018. Huawei’s solar portfolio delivers complete inverter solutions from 2kW residential applications up to utility-scale solar farms as large as 1GW using exclusively string inverters.In his current position as Solutions Manager, Bouke is responsible for the customer’s technical requests within the Benelux sales team. “My job is to help the customer find the best solution for his application, using Huawei’s extensive product portfolio. These solutions extend far beyond the classical PV module – inverter interface, into more data-driven approaches where digital communication becomes key to the long-term success of the installation.”

Leon Straathof is advisor grid infrastructure and regulation for Holland Solar, NWEA and Energie Samen. In this role, he represents the interests of the members and works on enabling and accelerating grid integration of sustainable generation. Together with network operators, governments and market parties, he develops short and long-term solutions for transport congestion. Leon has 30 years of work experience in the energy sector. He has broad experience in the field of sustainability and flexibility of energy supply, grid integration, short and long-term solutions for transport congestion, grid renewal, system integration and legislation and regulations.

Lars Rupert is founder and CFO of GIGA Storage. Lars has an extensive experience in structuring and mergers & acquisitions. He was involved in many (re)financings and the setting up of international investment funds and investment structures. As CFO Lars is responsible for the financial side of the business cases of GIGA Storage
