Suffice it to say that a robust and well-executed maintenance program plays a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term performance of a solar PV system. In 2018, price pressure was the anthem of the global O&M space and 2019 is expected to whistle along to the same tune, whilst steering the market into a new direction. Nonetheless, each market has its own unique characteristics and challenges.
In order to better circumnavigate Japan’s O&M market dynamics, we have compiled an overview of some of the main O&M vendors (Table 1) and sat with ORIX’s O&M arm (OREM) to bring you a helicopter view of the country’s O&M landscape. This data overview represents total megawatts under O&M for both owned and 3rd party assets, and is intended to serve as a preliminary guide, since some of the activities and their definitions still remain somewhat open to interpretation.
