The legal framework for Distributed Generation in Mexico is defined under the ‘’Ley de la Industria Eléctrica (LIE)’ and the ‘’Ley de Transición Energética’’ (LTE), which determines a maximum capacity of 500 kW per generation asset connected to a distribution network. Above such threshold, on- site generation requires a permit and does not have any particular regulatory benefits.
