Post-Show Report
The 4th edition of the Solarplaza Summit Portugal once again united key national stakeholders and prospective international players to discuss the status, challenges, and opportunities of the Portuguese PV market.
Already a renewable energy powerhouse, Portugal covers over half of its electricity production with renewables. While hydro and wind energy are slumping, solar energy is emerging as the renewable technology with the highest potential for growth. Portugal now boasts over 2 GW of cumulative capacity and aims to cross the 9 GW threshold by the end of the decade under its PNEC plan. New emerging technologies like storage, floating PV and green hydrogen, coupled with the 'European Fit for 55' plan might up the ante even more.
The event program focused on these recent trends, and dived further into a wealth of other topics, like hybrid applications, social acceptance, licensing issues, floating PV, self-consumption, energy trading and corporate PPAs. Supplemented by insightful presentations on market trends, numbers and industry forecasts, the speakers and panelists provided a holistic picture of the market. Meanwhile, during the breaks and on the exhibition floor, meaningful business connections were fortified to help realize Portugal's PV potential.
