At the moment, average electricity prices on the Dutch power exchange are higher than the average prices in PPA contracts. Hence, electricity trading on the spot market offers a huge business opportunity. The combination of RE generation with energy storage in a market marked by highly-volatile electricity prices - even including a growing number of hours with negative electricity prices - makes the business case for Renewable Energy assets more interesting and more complex at the same time.
