NatCat Operational Strategies for Asset Owners and Operators

As Silicon Ranch’s Chief Technology Officer, Nick is charged with identifying and leveraging emerging technologies that enable Silicon Ranch to support the US domestic supply chain and demonstrate the sequestration of carbon. Nick has more than 20 years of diverse renewable energy, semiconductor, and military experience that inform his current work, including executive positions at SolarCity, Phoenix Solar, and Applied Materials. Nick’s renewable energy industry expertise spans module and cell manufacturing, photovoltaic project design and operation, auxiliary grid services, as well as the prediction and demonstration of the energy harvest of novel PV technologies. He has also worked on manufacturing amorphous silicon modules, and on process machine control of cell splitting and cascading cell bonding processes with heterojunction crystalline cells. Silicon Ranch owns projects that Nick himself designed nearly a decade ago, including the first transmission interconnected PV plant in the Southeast. Nick holds patents in both PV module manufacturing and design. While at Applied Materials, he advanced the use of statistical process control to enhance the reliability of production equipment. He has led the commissioning of process equipment at Intel semiconductor factories in both the U.S. and Europe, and entire solar cell factories in India, Germany, Spain, and China. Nick served his country on active duty as an Infantry Captain in the United States Army, with tours in Kuwait and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Nick is currently leading Silicon Ranch’s efforts to develop Cattle Tracker, working with the DOE, leading universities, and regenerative ranchers; Cattle Tracker is Silicon Ranch’s Integrated PV System Design and Management Platform for the co-optimization of cattle-grazing and PV solar generation while measuring the impacts of these efforts on the surrounding ecosystem dynamics and soil health.

As the Chief Revenue Officer, James Wagstaff oversees Raptor Maps' commercial, growth, and customer success functions. James is an established executive in the energy industry with a track record of delivering high-growth results for energy SaaS and data companies. His background includes operations and commercial roles with World Energy (acquired by EnerNOC) and PowerAdvocate (now part of Wood Mackenzie). James has a BA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MBA from Wharton.

Isaac McLean is the Chief Underwriting Officer at kWh Analytics. With over 18 years of insurance experience, Isaac comes from ICAT Managers, where he spent the last 14 years building and growing natural catastrophe exposed property insurance programs. These programs included residential, small commercial and middle market books of business throughout the United States. Isaac has a B.B.A. in Business Management and Leadership from New Mexico State University. He grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico and has resided in Lakewood, Colorado for the last 18 years.

Reegan has worked for 28 years in the energy, telecommunications and retail industries, overseeing national teams offering high-growth products and services to traditional markets and P&L responsibilities. From start-ups to Fortune 500 firms, his specialty is enhancing client relationships and securing new business. Prior to joining SOLV Energy, Reegan secured EPC work for more than 100 MW of solar projects for Intermountain Electric, a Quanta Services company. With over ten years of experience working in solar, he adeptly identifies opportunities for SOLV Energy to provide superior service to plant owners and asset managers within his extensive industry network and has built an O&M portfolio of over 8.5 GW of solar assets in the U.S. In his role, Reegan coordinates with all members of the SOLV Energy team, from field technicians to performance analysts to engineers, to provide informed answers and solutions for clients.

Scott oversees the customer facing engineering team at GameChange Solar. In this role, he is responsible for the execution, accuracy, and timeliness of all of GameChange’s technical deliverables. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in a dozen states and functions as the Structural Engineer of Record for many of GameChange’s projects. With almost a decade of experience in the renewable energy space, Scott has served as a voting member of the US National Committee for the IEC Renewable Energy System and is currently on US Technical Committee 82 regarding Solar Photovoltaic Energy Systems.
